Well, drat. I'd urge you to let go of the word "stupidity," though. More likely it was a loss of focus on the task at hand...
Whatever, heal well and be good to yourself. Maybe it's good that all the knitting mags are coming out this week or last. You can read about knitting until you can knit again.
