Sock Summit

Like hundreds (thousands?) of others, I was poised at the ready yesterday, waiting for the moment when class registration for Sock Summit '09 was to open. Like almost everyone else, I experienced the problems that occurred as we all clicked at once. It was a time-consuming, often frustrating process, but in the end, I got into a few classes I wanted, as did Diane, and Jane. Unfortunately Maria didn't, but I am hoping that as the double-bookings are sorted out, her class will open up and she can get in. Fingers crossed for you, Maria!

The IT people were warned that a capable server was necessary to handle the influx of crazy-ass knitters, but they, once again, failed to realize our numbers. Server crashed. Server did NOT serve its purpose. Many people are left very upset in the wake of what happened. Thankfully I am not one of them. I feel for the people who had classes snatched out of their shopping carts and were not able to get them back. But I hope after the initial disappointment fades, they will still go to Portland and enjoy the camaraderie of all of us who will be there, as well as the many wonderful things that Portland has to offer.

I am arriving a few days early, and not taking a full class schedule, because I want plenty of time to experience some of the sights and sounds and tastes and experiences of Portland. I am looking forward to spending time with people who mean so much to me, (Diane, Becky, Jane, Maria, Lynn) and meeting many others who may become future friends.

I'm very excited and looking forward to August. But in the mean time, I have a lot of summer activities to enjoy before that happens. The first of which is Kaitlyn's graduation on Sunday.

Congratulations, Kaitlyn!

I CANNOT wait! We are going to have SO much fun. It's been way too long since we've had a Sister's trip, and what a good one this will be. :-)
